Pitino announced today that David Padgett was elected by his teammates as captain for next season. At his press conference, Pitino said, "Every player on the team, every coach had him as the unanimous leader. David has the wisdom, the experience and now the health to be a terrific leader of this basketball team." As a junior Padgett averaged 9.5 points and 5.6 rebounds, but was really a difference maker for much of the season in spite of playing with bum knees.

Earl Clark 50 / 50 on whether of not to go proThu, 03/22/2007 - 19:50 — CardinalESPN reports that Earl Clark is 50-50 as to whether to stay for another year or go pro. I had no idea he would even be thinking about it. I think he's got pro potential, but he sure looks to me like he'd need a better sophomore year to get him out of the 2nd + round. Unless he really hates playing college ball (it doesn't seem like he's having much fun) he should stay, at least a year, maybe two IMHO.
