// END UPDATE
In the Cj, Pitino talked about next year's schedule. There were no specific teams mentioned but he did throw out the possibility of two tournaments, the Wooden Tradition and the Las Vegas Invitational. That would mean we could possibly meet up with Purdue, UNC or a team that just beat one of them. Those would be great out of conference opponents. I'd love to see us play IU and WKU regularly as well. I know the money would work with IU... I don't know about WKU... maybe if their home were in Nashville? Then we could add them in Football too and drop our annual D2 opponent, which would upgrade our strength of schedule (as WKU will be turning DI).
So as far as specifics go, here's what we know so far:
UofL vs. Hartford (13-18 in 2006-07) on Nov. 17th in Freedom Hall
UofL vs. Jackson State, (21-14 in 2006-07) on Nov. 18th in Freedom Hall
Nov. 23 at Orleans Arena, Las Vegas, Nev. (times listed are Pacific)
6:00 p.m. Louisville vs. BYU
Nov. 24 at Orleans Arena, Las Vegas, Nev. (times listed are Pacific)
4:30 p.m. Loser of Louisville/BYU vs. loser of
7:30 p.m. Winner of Louisville/BYU vs. winner of UNC/ODU
UofL vs. Purdue Dec. 15th at 3:30 p.m in Indy (Wooden Tradition)
The Big East Schedule (no more specifics so far) is:
Louisville HOME GAMES
CINCINNATI
GEORGETOWN
MARQUETTE
NOTRE DAME
RUTGERS
ST. JOHN'S
SYRACUSE
VILLANOVA
WEST VIRGINIA
Louisville AWAY GAMES
CONNECTICUT

GEORGETOWN
MARQUETTE
PITTSBURGH
PROVIDENCE
RUTGERS
SETON HALL
USF
That's a pretty tough draw for us. Every team in the 16-member Big East will play each of the other teams once, and each will play three teams twice. For its trio of repeat opponents, the Cards drew Georgetown, Marquette and Rutgers. Rutgers shouldn't be bad, but those other two...
Louisville (No. 5 in the preseason) is the only Big East school that will face repeat games against two top-10 teams – Georgetown (8) and Marquette (10), as listed by CBS Sportsline. Overall, the Cards will play six league games against teams ranked in the preseason Top 25. The list also includes single games at home against Villanova (13) and at Pittsburgh (24).
For those interested, here's this years football schedule too:
2007 Louisville Cardinal Football Schedule
8/30 Murray State
9/6 Middle Tenn. State
9/15 AT Kentucky
9/22 Syracuse
9/29 AT NC State

10/19 AT Connecticut
10/27 Pittsburgh
11/8 AT West Virginia

WKU is stepping up to Division I starting with the 2008-2009 season in football. They will be in the Sun Belt conference.
