On Wednesday, Aug. 29, UofL is planning a pep rally get fans fired up for the coming season. Admission and parking is free to all fans with the gates opening at 7:00 p.m. Free food will also be available to fans in attendance. Cut-ins to the pep rally will be shown live on ESPN's College Football Preview Show. Coach Krag (I'm so not down with Coach K), Brian Brohm, Harry Douglas and Malik Jackson are all speaking
The four letter network has put THE UNIVFERSITY OF LOUISVILLE FIGHTING CARDINALS as the 18th best team of the past decade. The top guys are who you'd expect: USC, Ohio State, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma. At #18, they say this about UofL:
No program has come further in this decade than the Cardinals, who began as a Division I-A have-not and finished as the champion and the anchor of the Big East.
Per KTSM, apparently the Aggies were so happy with Reggie Theus they looked for his twin and came up with this man. Marvin Menzies was introduced as the new coach this afternoon. He replaced Theus at Louisville as Pitino's assistant two years ago. He is from the West Coast and is known as a great recruiter.
According to WKYT television out of Lexington, Pitino is prepared to hire former UK star Walter McCarty as the Cards' new assistant coach.
The CJ reported yesterday that Tyler Wimsatt, a redshirt freshman RB / QB from Owensboro High School, was dismissed from the University of Louisville football team by coach Kragthorpe for a violation of unspecified team rules.
Wouldn't this be nice: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology? Though it's ridiculous to be talking about it this early in the preseason, it would be sweet if the big east did get 9 bids and UofL was a 1. I can't remember the last time we were seeded that high. I can't wait for football and basketball to start.

For those of you who don't work during the day, UofL has scheduled a party at Jim Patterson Stadium at 1 p.m., with the team arriving around 1:45 p.m. U of L has asked fans to go to the party rather than to the airport to greet the team (The Cardinals will be landing and then boarding a bus on a tarmac with no public access).
The official page for this is here but they don't really say anything.
In an update to my previous preseason ranking post, we're up to #6 and in consideration to win the Big East (though still ranked behind #5 Georgetown - Memphis is #1).
2006-07 Record: 24-10, 12-4
