Corvin Lamb and Michaelee Harris commit to the Cards

Louisville has picked up a couple of quality Orlando area recruits thanks mostly to a stud of a new coach. Running Back Corvin Lamb (5-10, 190-pounds) and wide reciever Michaelee Harris (6-foot, 180 pounds) both had other offers from power schools like LSU, Miami and rival WVU but chose us.

Has Pitino Been Sandbagging on Jennings & Samuels?

Back in October Pitino made it very clear that he would definitely not, under any circumstances play Samuels and Jennings concurrently. Then he prefaced with: for a couple months. Coaches always say they don't emphasize one game over others the way that fans do but I wouldn't put it past Pitino to save his best lineup as a surprise until the Kentucky game. Here's the pros and cons of such a move as I see them:

Pros:
- Calipari can't scout our style of play when we play our best five
- They have better players at all five spots, we need something to mix things up

Football Season Already

It's embarrasing to admit it, but reading about Charlie Strong is making me wish for football season instead of basketball. So strange because 2 weeks ago the opposite was so very true. I think I just enjoy winning.

Charlie Strong is our new head coach

Great hire, TJ senior. I never felt quite right about K. It seemed like a buddy hire. This seems just right. Time will tell. For now, he's undefeated and riding high. I don't think it will take him 3+ years though to be respectable.

We need a few more Okoyes

Okoye, a former University of Louisville star, met hundreds of children during a recent eight-day charity trip with other NFL players to Africa.

I admired him at UofL, even more since then. He is a great ambassador for our program. If players like him were coming out under Kragthorpe too I'd think good things were happening with our football program. But Okoye's Petrino's man. All Kragthorpe has done is lose. You have to be a good guy AND win.

Earl Clark's Draft Prospects

ESPN's Chad Ford has this to say about Clark:

Earl Clark, F, Jr., Louisville

2009 Louisville Cardinals Football Schedule

09-10 Basketball Schedule

Here's next year's schedule. I'd recommend going to the away games as the home ones are all yawners. Maybe we can schedule our way to a winning season. Arkansas State? At least schedule Western and keep the money in state.

Sep 5 - vs. Indiana State, TBA
Sep 12 - Open
Sep 19 - at Kentucky, TBA
Sep 26 - at Utah, 7:30 PM ET
Oct 2 - vs. Pittsburgh, 8:00 PM, ET
Oct 10 - vs. Southern Miss, TBA
Oct 17 - at Connecticut, TBA
Oct 24 - at Cincinnati, TBA
Oct 31 - vs. Arkansas State, TBA

Disappointment

What a disappointing end. We never really looked good today. Every shot except that backdoor play was contested and difficult. Oh well. I'll be disappointed doubly if Pitino leaves. ::Sigh::

Pitino back to UK?

I'm not usually one to spread rumors but I heard one and hadn't seen it out there yet. I have on good information (who doesn't) that UK contacted Pitino last week just to gauge his interest in coming back. Gillespe's out. The specifics mentioned included $6 million / year (making him the highest paid college coach and the second-highest paid coach in all of sports behind only Rick Adelman of the NBA Kings at $6.9M).
