Two Football players have been dismissed from the team today. Junior cornerback Lamar Alston of Paducah and sophomore defensive end Jonathan Holston of Tallahassee, Fla., were cut loose from the University of Louisville football team, according to U of L head coach Steve Kragthorpe, for unspecified reasons. Though no clue was given, rumors point to drug involvement.
Alston played in 12 games and recorded six tackles in 2006, while Holston played in just three contests because of injury and was credited with one tackle.
I know neither of these guys were stars and the narcotics part is speculation, but if it's true, I say bravo to "player's coach" Kragthorpe for laying the hammer down hard. The problem with a player's coach is when they're soft on discipline and get taken advantage of. Though bad for publicity, I think this is a good sign.
I sure gave him the benefit of the doubt
"I think it's a good sign"? That was before the world's most disappointing season.
