Per The Orlando Sentinel:
Head coach Charlie Strong, the former Florida Gators defensive coordinator who is in his first year as head coach at Louisville, remains a thorn in the side of Gators’ rival Florida State. On Thursday, Strong got a commitment from defensive end Deiontrez Mount (6-6, 215) from Fort Walton Beach. Mount also had offers from FSU, South Carolina, Minnesota, Iowa State, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

After whipping the Cuse, Louisivlle is certainly a lock for the tournament. The problem I see is that we probably worked our way right now to a 8 or 9 seed. I hate knowing we'd have to play the 1 on the first weekend. We clearly can win (see WSYR TV Syracuse -- on a related note, I wonder if Syracuse has considered just forfeiting their games against us to save the travel expenses and humiliation). Nevertheless, I'd much rather be a 10 than a 9 or 8.
I just drove by the new arena for the first time in a couple weeks and it's looking good. From the south it still looks like a big work in progress but from the north it is beautiful. There's a huge curved glass wall bulging out toward the interstate and along the east side they have a glass wall up that spans the length of the building. With all the talk of tomorrow's Freedom Hall Finale I hadn't really though about how cool it will be to play in a state-of-the-art downtown arena. 240 more days.
Here's the story in full at ESPN. Some highlights are below:
So can we expect a Florida-esque or Utah-esque spread offense at Louisville?
Sept. 4 vs. UK
Sept. 11 vs. Eastern Kentucky
Sept. 18 at Oregon State
Oct. 2 at Arkansas State
Oct. 9 vs. Memphis
Oct. 15 vs. Cincinnati
Oct. 23 vs. Connecticut
Oct. 30 at Pittsburgh
Nov. 6 at Syracuse
Nov. 13 vs. South Florida
Nov. 20 vs. West Virginia
Nov. 26 at Rutgers
I really really want to go to a bowl. Even if it has car care or .com at the end of it, I really want to go to a bowl.
Thanks to UofL Card Game and Charles Springer for the video.
UofL again blew a double digit lead in the closing minutes of a game against a top ranked opponent. We're a good team. It drives me bonkers when people talk about us being an NIT team. Our record indicates that I know but to watch us play the first 35 minutes, we can play with anybody. Grrrrr.
Strong is keeping the Florida connection going strong with a commitment from Jamaine Brooks, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive tackle from Miami (Fla.) Palmetto. Brooks told Rivals.com that he committed to U of L after a recent visit to campus. He also had offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Western Michigan, Florida A&M and Tennessee State. I don't really remember any 305 lbs 6'4" guys in high school but we've got a couple 300+ guys coming in. Kudos to Charlie and the football factory.
Louisville has picked up a couple of quality Orlando area recruits thanks mostly to a stud of a new coach. Running Back Corvin Lamb (5-10, 190-pounds) and wide reciever Michaelee Harris (6-foot, 180 pounds) both had other offers from power schools like LSU, Miami and rival WVU but chose us.
